A new study conducted by “Safe Wildlife Crossings”, led by Dr. Dror Danbaum, the organization’s advisor on the ecological impacts of roads and ecological crossing design, ranks municipalities and authorities based on the urgency of implementing wildlife conservation measures in their areas. These measures address the severe impacts of roadkills and habitat fragmentation..
The research involved an in-depth analysis of 4,870 road segments across the country. Each segment was evaluated based on data such as the number of roadkills involving all wildlife species and those endangered, the road's proximity to nature reserves, and its location within ecological corridors.
This study serves as a critical foundation for the organization’s efforts to promote on-the-ground solutions to protect wildlife. It enables us to focus on areas with the greatest need for change.
